Welcome to High Tech Middle!

The High Tech Middle Parent Association (HTM PA) works together with the High Tech Foundation to support our school by fostering community, supporting the teaching staff, and involving parents.

The PA sponsors social events to bring the school together, and fundraising opportunities to help supplement the school budget.  Money raised through donations and fundraisers goes directly into classrooms to purchase equipment, project materials, and classroom supplies.

Whether you can spare a few hours, or take on a larger role, we need volunteers!  Help out with a fundraiser or donate supplies, participate in PA meetings, share your ideas of how to improve our school.  Parent support and involvement truly makes a difference to our students!
 
We look forward to meeting you at our monthly PA meetings, the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 am at HTM.  Feel free to contact any PA Board Member with questions, comments or to find out how you can help!

Welcome to the 2014/2015 School Year!

Welcome new parents and welcome back returning families!  We are very happy to provide helpful tips on this parent website and hope to receive questions and comments from you!

If you have been thinking about jumping in to help with parent sponsored activities this year, we would love to hear from you!

• We need a 6th or 7th grade parent to help with the PA President role.  Our "interim" president is an 8th grade parent who is very happy to mentor a new parent (and work as a co-president) to help ensure the HTM PA group can continue with the valuable work they do!

• We also need Committee Chairs, many that can be run from home!  We need help running the following programs: Box Tops, Gift Card Sales, eScrip, Amazon & Fund Run.  Please let us know if you can help...we have lots of folks willing to mentor on any of these program!

May Announcements and Events!

Teacher Appreciation Day & GIVE Big Campaign - May 6th

• Thanks to your generous support of HTM fundraising throughout the year with Taco nights, eScrip, Amazon & BoxTops, the Parent Association is setting up a special teacher “picnic” luncheon, featuring  Jersey Mike’s with all the trimmings! 
• Please consider adding your personal touch of appreciation with a family thank you card, student note, or flowers (one is as wonderful as a bunch).
• The 24-hour “GiveBIG” fundraiser, also on May 6.  The campaign supports over 300 non-profits around San Diego, including our schools!  Your gift of $25 or more will be matched on this special day of gratitude! On Tuesday, visit the official Give Big San Diego webpage.  To make your gift direct to our school, type “HTM” in the comments field and your gift + match will go to HTM!  All donors will be entered to win a bag of custom HTH goodies!  Click here to see asneak peek…

LAST PA Meeting of the year - Thursday May 8th - 8:45

• Please join our last official PA meeting of the year on May 8th.  We will vote in next year's board and wrap up the results of the year.  We always have room for more parent help at anytime.  If you think you might want to help next year, reply and let us know!

Box Tops Contest ends May 23rd

• A Popsicle Party is the prize for the most Boxtops - Labels for Eduction collected by May 23!  Please drop off labels in a sealed bag with your team name printed on it to box near Ms. Lisa's desk. 

Exhibition & Taco Night! March 20, 2014

We are so excited for Exhibition Night this Thursday because we are hosting Taco Night from 4 to 6pm, just in time to grab a delicious bite before you go in to see student work at 6pm! 

Please come early and enjoy 2 hot off the grill, made to order TACOS for only $3, Drinks and Churros for just $1! 

This is our last big PA event of the year and we hope you will stop by our booth to check out:

• HTM LogoWear for sale (limited sizes and colors) - cash or checks made to HTM PA
• PA representatives to answer questions about being a part of the PA next year as either a board member, an event chair, or just helping out!
  
• Collections for Box Tops (write your team name on the bag or envelope so your class gets credit)
• Collections for 8th Grade Promotion (we appreciate your support - will take cash or checks made to HTM PA)
  
• Info on how to earn money for HTM when you shop Amazon! Plus info on eScrip, and eScrip Dining programs.

We look forward to a fun night of amazing student work, great food, and offering a personal thank you for all you do to support HTM year round!!

A Special Request from the Parent Association

The Parent Association has learned our own Mr. Dave Gillingham, current 7^th grade teacher, former PrimeTime director at HTM, recently lost his home to a devastating fire.  We are very sad to discover he lost everything and is now starting the difficult, and time consuming, recovery process.

We are asking you to join us in support of Mr. Dave’s recovery with a contribution to help get him back on his feet.  We are collecting gift cards or cash in any amount so he can purchase the basics of daily living.

• Gift cards to Target, Amazon, Costco, or Visa pre-paid cards are most helpful, as are gift cards to restaurants and grocery stores.  
• If you or your child are able, a handwritten note or drawing to let him know of your support would be wonderful. 

Please drop off your gift or contribution to Lisa at the front desk this week (by 2/13/14).  She will keep them secure.  We hope to surprise Mr. Dave on Thursday with the collection, but will continue to gather donations through the end of the month (2/28/14).

An event like this reminds us how life can take drastic turns without any notice.  We are thankful Mr. Dave was not injured and has been able to continue teaching without missing a beat.  Please join us in showing our support to his resilience and recovery!

HTM "Fund Run" on 2/5....Save the Date!

Save the date for our annual HTM Fund Run, WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 5, 2014.  

Students will have fun running, walking, dancing to music, getting exercise and raising money for our school.  

Look for an envelope coming home by January 22,2014 with more information and how to raise funds for this fun event!
