HTM Dress Code

The purpose of the HTM schools’ dress code is to foster a professional, safe and respectful environment at school. The dress code is in effect from the time students arrive to school until they leave. The dress code applies to field trips, site visits, academic internships and other school-related activities, unless the supervising adult informs the students otherwise.

TOPS

Boys must wear a short or long-sleeved shirt with a collar. Shirts must be buttoned. Girls must wear collared shirts, sweaters, or blouses. Shoulders must be covered and exposed midsections are not acceptable. T-shirts are not allowed to be worn over collared shirts.

Sweaters and jackets of an appropriate size and length may be worn over, but not in place of, an appropriate shirt. Hooded sweatshirts are not allowed to substitute for an appropriate shirt.

BOTTOMS

Appropriate school attire includes long pants, shorts or skirts worn with the waistband at the waist. Excessively baggy pants, athletic wear, sweat pants are not acceptable. Jeans in good repair are acceptable. Skirts and shorts must be of acceptable length (2 inches above the knee).

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES

  • Text that promotes violence, alcohol, tobacco or drugs is prohibited.

  • Flip flops and slippers are not allowed.

  • Exposed midsections are not acceptable.

  • Hats, hoods and bandannas are not acceptable.

  • Earrings are fine, but no other visible piercing. Small, clear studs are allowed in place for nose rings during the school day.
